Pro-Ject

The Pro-Ject 1 was the original turntable designed by Heinz Lichtenegger, founder of Pro-Ject Audio, back in the early 1990s. Since then, the '1' has been made in many forms, most notably of which was the popular Xpression series.
The Xpression Carbon UKX, is now being phased out and replaced by the X! and X2 turntables in the NEW X-Line range of turntables.

So far the NEW X1 Turntable from Pro-Ject has already been awarded the EISA 2019 Award for the BEST Turntable. Both the X1 and X2 turntables are available with or without a cartridge.
Please note that the X-Line turntables supplied without a cartridge are available only as a special order.

XPCARBUK

The Pro-Ject 1 was the original turntable designed by Heinz Lichtenegger, founder of Pro-Ject Audio, back in the early 1990s. Since then, the '1' has been made in many forms, most notably of which was the popular Xpression series. Now, in 2013, the latest incarnation has been released - the 1 Xpression Carbon X

The Xpression Carbon advances on from its forbears with some brand new features that have never been seen on any other Pro-Ject turntables before. From the stunning finish to the audiophile technical specification, every element of this turntable has been meticulously designed to offer the best performance for the money - just like the original Pro-Ject 1.

The 1 Xpression Carbon X advances on other turntables thanks to its one-piece carbon fibre tonearm, which is mounted in a brand new heavy-weight assembly, inspired by the superior Evolution tonearms. This over-sized support effectively isolates the tonearm from the plinth, and takes any minor resonances in the tonearm and dissipates them immediately - allowing only the original music signal to be sent to your amplifier. Mounted on the tonearm is the new Ortofon 2M Silver, a special version of Ortofon's world famous 2M Red cartridge, finished with silver spools for optimal signal generation.

The Xpression Carbon benefits from a new AC motor design with DC power supply. It achieves this unique combination by incorporating an AC generator on the underside of the turntable - so the DC power supply signal is changed to a clean AC supply, which allows the 9V motor to perform at its optimal level. The motor is isolated from the main plinth - to avoid resonance transference - by two rubber gromits designed and manufactured by Ortofon's expert rubber division. The motor applies rotating force to a sub-platter, which drives the acrylic platter. The acrylic platter creates an alternative aesthetic and sound. The use of acrylic reduces tinny frequencies and helps accentuate the mid-range better.

The Xpression Carbon is supplied with both a felt and a cork mat, to tailor the sound perfectly for your ears, and your environment.

EISA-Award-Pro-Ject-X1-300x162

The X1 is the latest version of Pro-Ject’s original record player, still in the range after more than 25 years. The X1 is a cutting-edge turntable that brings high-end analogue technologies to a more affordable price-point.

Structurally the X1 is framed by its over-sized, heavyweight MDF structure. Inside the plinth, it houses a sophisticated DC/AC generator board which, combined with the convenient speed control board (for automatic switching between 33 and 45 RPM as well as additional 78 RPM support), delivers clean and stable power to the quiet-running motor. For even further improved performance, the motor is decoupled from the main plinth using a new motor suspension system.

In the X1, the motor drives a purpose-made, heavy, non-resonant Acryl platter via a sub-platter drive system and a premium grade main bearing, for liquid smooth rotation. This is the perfect platform on which to place your precious vinyl records, guaranteeing absolute reliability in its performance and sonic character

The X1 is also better than its predecessors thanks to the super-stiff, perfectly tempered Carbon/Alu sandwich construction tonearm, inspired by our superior The Classic turntable. This new 8.6” tonearm design is incredibly light and stiff, with improved resistance to external interference. Finished as a one-piece, with no resonance-inducing headshell, the X1 tonearm can also be adjusted for accurate azimuth and VTA settings, allowing advanced analogue audiophiles to fine-tune more than ever before. The tonearm is then supplied with a TPE-damped counterweight, further reducing cartridge/tonearm resonances.

The X1 is packaged to suit anyone who cares about how their vinyl sounds. Supplied as standard with a brand new Pro-Ject Pick-IT S2 MM cartridge, manufactured by the cartridge experts at Ortofon but voiced by the design team at Pro-Ject, it can be ready to play within a few minutes of unboxing. Also supplied in the box are a pair of Connect-IT E RCA cables; a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable with superior shielding that’s optimized for turntable use. The turntable is then positioned on three height-adjustable, decoupling Alu/TPE sandwich feet for improved isolation from the structure it’s placed upon. For safety when not in use, an acrylic dust cover is also included with the turntable.

The X1 truly represents the epitome of Pro-Ject’s core philosophies. Due to the company’s extensive experience and meticulous manufacturing processes, they’ve put resources, time and effort into giving music lovers the best sound for their money, rather than cutting corners to save on costs. From the sophisticated motor drive system, on to the specially selected cartridge, the audiophile tonearm, the purpose-designed feet, the hand-cut acrylic platter and beyond; X1 delivers a luxury level of audio and technical excellence that belies the mid-level price tag.

The X1 is available in 3 finishes; a premium walnut wood veneer or a luxurious black or white eight-layer gloss paint.

Say goodbye to unnecessary features, and hello to quality audio once again, with Pro-Ject X1.

Pro-Ject X2 Turntable

Price:

X2 Without Cartridge £899.00

X2 With Ortofon 2M Silver Cartridge £999.00

The X2 is a luxury high-end turntable that delivers sonically and technically while maintaining a high aesthetic appeal – but without an esoteric price tag. Employing Pro-Ject’s latest audio technologies, it stands apart in a market awash with “me-too” analogue products.

Structurally the X2 is supported by its large, heavy, dense and stiff MDF structure, reducing unwanted resonances to almost imperceptible levels. By adding this extra mass, the X2 is even quieter than previous versions, allowing the vinyl reproduction to become cleaner and more precise. Inside, it houses a sophisticated DC/AC generator board which, combined with the convenient speed control board (for automatic switching between 33 and 45 RPM as well as additional 78 RPM support), delivers clean and stable power to the silent motor system. For even further improved performance, the motor is carefully balanced and suspended on a precision tuned TPE belt; this way the motor chassis is effectively decoupled from the main plinth.

In the X2, the motor drives a new, heavy, non-resonant Acryl platter via a sub-platter drive system and a premium grade main bearing for liquid smooth rotation. This is the perfect platform on which to place your precious vinyl records, guaranteeing absolute reliability in its performance and sonic character.

The X2 also benefits from a super-stiff, precisely tempered Carbon/Alu sandwich construction tonearm with a wider tube, inspired by our superior The Classic turntable. This 9” tonearm design is incredibly light and stiff, with improved resistance to external interference and better internal damping. Finished as a one-piece, with no resonance-inducing headshell, the X2 tonearm can also be adjusted for accurate azimuth and VTA settings, allowing advanced analogue audiophiles to fine-tune more than ever before. The tonearm is then supplied with a TPE-damped counterweight, further reducing cartridge/tonearm resonances.

The X2 is packaged to suit anyone who cares about how their vinyl sounds. Supplied as standard with the popular Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge, manufactured by the cartridge experts at Ortofon specifically for Pro-Ject turntables, it can be ready to play within a few minutes of unboxing.

The X2 is fine-tuned to focus on audio excellence. It has all the features needed for convenient day-to-day use, but no superfluous add-ons that start to negatively impact the sonic character. The end result is a highly engaging, musical turntable that delivers deep, detailed lows, crisp high frequencies and an engaging well-presented midrange. But due to Pro-Ject’s advanced manufacturing experience, while delivering great sound the X2 is also a beautiful piece of engineering that can stand proud as the focal point in any home environment.

The X2 is available in four finishes; a premium walnut wood veneer, a luxurious black 8-layer high gloss paint, or black or white eight-layer hand-polished satin paint.
